How He Loves Us (Pt. 2)

“I chose to learn to talk… that’s how much I love you.”

How He Loves Us (Pt. 1)

“I gave you relationships… that’s how much I love you.”

Where are you?

From my journal on 7-19-09

“The enemy meets people where they are.  Whether it be in a time of sorrow (with doubt, confusion, false solutions, etc.), in a time of success (with pride), or in the everyday routine (with complacency), he will attack.  So, why should we as believers and as a church not try to meet people where they are?  People want to be met where they are, so they’ll accept and embrace whatever meets them there.”

How can we, as a church, do this effectively?

6 a.m. Sun

So this morning I woke up at 6 a.m. with an uncanny craving for Capri Sun.  Thankfully we had a full stock in our fridge.  It was the weirdest thing… first of all, I’ve never had a craving for Capri Sun before, and secondly I never, and I mean NEVER wake up at 6 a.m. without an alarm.

Anyone else have anything weird like this happen to them lately?

The best day of my life…

If you haven’t read the previous post please read that before you continue through this one……

Amidst everything that was happening around me, God allowed me to have, literally, the best day of my life.  At about 4:00 A.M. on Saturday September 26th, my friend Tina met Jesus and joined in a relationship with Him.  Tina was an atheist.   In just the first month of school, myself, along with many of my friends had gotten very close to her.  Many of us had been begging God to meet her.  People literally all around the world were interceding on her behalf.  We knew she needed Him and we loved her so much that it was painful for us to see her without Him.  We constantly begged God to meet her and to save her.  Many times seemed extremely opportunistic for her but she just wouldn’t dive in.  This was extremely frustrating to us and discouraged us at times.  There were times we wondered if it would ever happen.  God is much more wise than we will ever know.  His timing is perfect.  After talking with Tina all night, she finally grabbed hold of God’s beauty and security and let me tell you, the few of us that were there with her started going nuts!  We were calling people waking them up, running around, laughing, hugging  Seeing someone fall in love with their Creator is, by far, the most beautiful thing someone can experience!  Amidst all this, we called one of our good friends David Miller to let him know the amazing news.  He happened to be with another one of our other new lovely friends Anna.  At the time, Anna was not a believer.  When she heard us going nuts and heard about the decision Tina had made, it sparked a lot of questions in her.  She didn’t understand how Tina had completely changed her mind so quickly on something so serious.  She began to ask a lot of questions and finally said that she needed to talk to all of us later that day.  The entire afternoon we were riding on the emotional high of witnessing what God had done with Tina the night before.  During the day, Tina, Anna, and a couple other girls went to Wal-Mart.  While they were there, myself, Kyle, and Miller were sitting and talking.  At one point, Kyle looked up and said, “Guys, what if Anna gets saved tonight too?”  That thought blew our minds.  It seemed so possible and so real to us.  We immediately prayed together and sent out mass-texts to get other people praying.  The girls got back and as we sat around, the conversation seemed somewhat surface level.  Later that evening, while I was in Crosspoint practice, I saw Kyle and Miller run in the door of the chapel at the BCM completely out of their minds!  I immediately put down my guitar to find out what happened.  You guessed it… God met Anna that night too and she accepted Him!  Two of my friends became New Creations that day!  They became my sisters in Christ!  Need I justify why this was the best day of my life?

Movement

God is moving.  I’d like the next few paragraphs to show you just how real that is, just what that looks like.  If you know me personally and have talked to me in the past month or so, you probably already know what I’m about to write, but I would be amiss to not do my part to let this information be known.

A little over a month ago, Crosspoint Church was challenged by our pastor to pray and fast.  We were doing this not only to beg to move at Crosspoint, but to move in a whole city, a whole region, and a whole campus.  As our pastor told us, “You can’t plan a revival, but you can prepare for one.”  So that’s what we did.  We prepared and presented a three week series entitled Awakening.  It was basically three weeks of straight up Gospel, all this time the church was fasting, praying, and trusting God.  We were asking, begging God to save 100 people in three weeks.  That’s nearly as many as He had saved through Crosspoint in the first 18 months of the church.  Some thought that was a lofty goal, some thought we were praying to small.  It turned out that the latter were correct.  In the first week alone, we saw 101 people meet Jesus and fall in love with Him for the first time.  Over the course of the series over 140 people handed their lives over to their Creator and nearly 40 of them followed Him in baptism on the last week of the series.  Amazing.

Now mind you, I said we were fasting and praying not only for Crosspoint, but for a whole region.  God was faithful.  My good friends Kyle and Ryan are the youth pastors at Rose Hill Baptist Church in Ashland, KY.  That church brought in speaker Tony Nolan one Wednesday night in the midst of all this for a youth event.  Rose Hill’s youth group normally averages around 20 kids, but through the faithfulness of His people, God brought nearly 1,000 people to the building that night to hear Tony speak.  93 teens met Jesus.  Astonishing.

Days later, I got a message from one of my close friends from home telling me that 8 youth had accepted God’s way for their lives at my youth group back home. Awesome.

Needless to say, people are overwhelmed with what God is doing through His church right now, and we are all thrilled to be a part of it.  The impact this has had on my life is insane.
